Here is a lovely white grape recently resurrected from extinction.  There are only a few follks cultivating and making Nascetta. It's stunning. At our recent dinner, it was a real crowd pleaser.  We've carried a couple of vintages now

It's bright straw yellow. The nose is singular. It's brightly electric with notes of citrus peel and also white peaches, white flowers, tropical fruit, acacia honey and thyme. It's surprisingly rich on the palate and juicy with just a touch of creaminess. The finish is fresh fun and friendly.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS: Great as an aperitif. Lovely with fresh fruit and cured meats. Goes great with fish and hard cheeses. This wine loved garlic and is perfect with shellfish, shrimp and lobster.

Stroppiana Description

Our winery is situated in a small hamlet within the municipality of La Morra, Rivalta. This is where the 18th century church of San Giacomo once stood , and one of our three Barolo is named after the Saint. We cultivate a total of approximately 5.5 hectares of land, some of which is in the municipalities of Verduno and Monforte, part estate owned and the rest under rental agreements.

I completed my education by graduating from art college, where I discovered a passion for sculpture, but as I grew up, I realised that I was also passionate about the land, the vineyards and the winery. There’s a local saying here -“la terra è bassa” - which literally means “the ground lies low”, in the sense that you have to work hard to cultivate it, but that doesn’t worry me. I intend to learn all about the work that takes place both outdoors and in the cellar, from pruning to the grape harvest, crushing, fermentations, drawing off, racking and bottling.  Just like my brother, I have a wine named after me too: Barbera d'Alba Superiore. I don’t feel any less important because it isn’t a Barolo… until we started making Nascetta, Barbera was our only feminine grape variety! - Altea Stroppiana (The Daughter)
