Racines is a collaboration between two classic houses from France, led by vignerons Étienne de Montille (Burgundy) and Rodolphe Péters (Champagne), and Santa Barbara’s own Justin Willett, owner and winemaker at Tyler Winery. The project is the first venture for Étienne and Rodolphe beyond France and represents the coming together of all that is wonderful about Burgundy, Champagne and California. These wines confirm something many have long suspected: that if you are looking to make terroir driven, elegant, balanced wines in the new world, then Santa Rita Hills is the place.
A combination of three parcels throughout the great S&B Vineyard | Two of the plantings about 10-12 years old, the third from the original 1971 plantings | Native yeast fermentation | Aged for 18 months in French oak (40% new) | 327 cases produced.
he 2017 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict is silky smooth from nose to finish, showing marvelous balance. There are lovely nuances in the glass. Floral notes and dark blue fruits present themselves in the glass from mid-palate on through the finish.
