The wine is rich cassis aromas marked by notes of lavender and vanilla, that lead to raspberry and cherry flavors elevated with a long tobacco and redcurrant finish. Bright fruit, spice, texture, and all of the tannin is a hallmark of the high elevation vineyards of Lake County. The dark fruits, old world characters and dried herbs come from the lower elevations of north Napa County. It's a delightful Cab and a great bargain!
Clay Shannon utilizes a flocks of sheep to maintan the vineyards. The sheep eat the low hanging unripe bunches of grapes, keep the grasses and cover crops to a manageable level, and provide natural manure as Clay Shannon Vineyards moves to complete organic certification. And if the sheep weren't cute enough, they are managed by 3 border collies who herd the sheep, and keep the wolves and mountain lions at bay
This stunning Cabernet Sauvignon is a tale of two counties and a tale of two appellations within Lake County. Crafted with grapes grown in the High Valley and Red Hills appellations, it’s a seamless representation of the best of both worlds.
