Transcontinental Rum Line is brought to us by La Maison & Velier – a company much respected by intrepid rum seekers around the globe. Transcontinental Rum Line captures the global landscape of rum and pays homage to the historical voyage that sugar cane spirits have made from the New World to Europe.

These spirits have no color or sugar added, and the varied aging conditions are highlighted on the label. Each rum in the line has spent time maturing in the tropical climates of their origin followed by further time aging in the cooler climates of Europe. The different environments yield different results when it comes to aging – climate and humidity have a big influence on how evaporation occurs. Tropical climates see evaporation loss at a rate of 7-10% each year, while aging in continental conditions results in losses closer to 2-3%. The result of this multi-climate aging is both an educational and damn tasty concept.

TCRL Jamaica was produced in 2013 in Lluidas Vale (aka Worthy Park), Jamaica. Pot distilled from estate molasses. After being matured for three years on the island, it was aged two more years in Europe and bottled at a hefty navy strength!
