Hemingway enjoyed having Daiquiris at La Floridita in Havana with his favorite barman, the legendary Constante Ribalaigua who learned bar keeping at the age off 16 and by 1918 had earned enough to assume ownership of an American-style bar called “La Florida.”Also at La Floridita in the 1930’s, they first poured the frothy egg flip called the “Josephine Baker” at the height of Ms Baker’s showbiz career.“Besides inventing a new cocktail practically every day,” says drink historian David Wondrich, “Constante made sure his customers got the best drinks and the best service, whether they were Ernest Hemingway, Spencer Tracy or the couple visiting from Des Moines. “
