Château Bel-Air is located in Belvès-de-Castillon, near Castillon-La-Bataille, 1 km east of the "Saint-Emilion" appellation. The property is situated on the site of a chapel which was a resting place for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. The family home dates from the 17th century and was restored in the 18th century. The castle dates back to 1627 and has a rich history. It was home to Louis XVIII's equerry, Jean Dupoujet.

Coming from the same limestone plateau as Saint-Emilion, east of Bordeaux, the wines of Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux benefit from a privileged geographical location with a south-facing exposure and an altitude difference of more than 100 meters. Gravelly near the Dordogne river, the clay soils at the foot of the hillsides make Castillon an exceptional land.

Number of hectares: 55.50 Ha
Soils: Clay-limestone with flint
Grape varieties: 80% Merlot - 10% Cabernet Franc - 10% Cabernet Sauvignon - The average age of the vines is 45 years old

A taste monitoring barrel by barrel is ensured during the ageing of the wine.
The barrels come from the different coopers to better exploit the potential of the wines.

Chateau Bel-Air Description

Château Bel-Air, cuvée Jean & Gabriel 2020, is a red wine from the Lussac-Saint-Émilion appellation, located in the emblematic region of Libourne in Bordeaux. The cuvée is a blend typical of the region, probably dominated by Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc, offering a harmonious and seductive expression. The 2020 vintage is known to have benefited from ideal climatic conditions, favouring optimal ripeness of the grapes. The Lussac-Saint-Émilion terroir, with its clay-limestone soils, gives the wine a beautiful structure and a rich aromatic complexity. The winemaking techniques respectful of the Bordeaux tradition underline the finesse of the fruit.

To enhance the qualities of this Lussac-Saint-Émilion, combine it with a rich and tasty cuisine. A roasted duck breast with a red wine reduction will enhance the fruity aromas and complexity of the wine. Mushroom dishes, such as a risotto with porcini mushrooms, or a traditional dish such as duck confit, go wonderfully well with the earthy nuances and roundness of the wine.
